About Sally Joy Bouska Professional
After some brief thought of being a nurse, I decided to choose music as my field of interest
for a life path. At that time, I was already playing the guitar and singing for church and school, as well as other events on a regular basis. In addition, during my high school years, I taught guitar lessons. It just seemed to fit who I was! I was a musician! And... I couldn't see myself doing anything else.
I obtained my first degree from Wichita State University in Music Education. My Masters degree in Church Music is from Friends University. I have taught music for about 20 years, mostly in the Wichita Catholic Diocese. I have been blessed to work with fabulous Priests, Administrators, Teachers, Staff, and Students. It has been a fantastic ride.
I am currently working at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School, in Wichita, Kansas teaching K-8 Music. I have a teaching partner, Mary Jo Evans, and we work our curriculum
hand in hand. Together we try to meet the music needs of 750 students. It is extremely challenging, but also very rewarding, and a whole lot of fun.
I also have twenty years of Church Choir experience. I directed Adult, Youth, and Children's Choirs at College Hill United Methodist for ten years, and was the Director of Church Music Liturgy at St. Patrick's of Wichita for ten years. I love singing and directing for our LORD. My husband and I are currently members of St. Catherine Parish in Wichita, and are regular members of the 11:00 a.m. Mass choir. We are enjoying it tremendously.
The Bouska Family
My husband Chuck and I were married in 1976, and continue to grow in our love for each other. Chuck has worked at Wichita State University for more than thirty years. He is an administrator in the Computing Center. He enjoys University life, and has been a fabulous father to our four boys. He is the wind beneath my wings.
Seth, our oldest son, lives in the hills of Portland, Oregon, with his wife Kim and our precious grandson Zachary. We now have a new little GIRL Bouska, in the family; born July 2010, her name is Jocelyn. Yea!!!!! Seth is an IT Manager for Nike, and Kim is a Financial Planner for First Tech Credit Union. Their lives are full and happy, and we cherish
every minute we get to spend with them.
Shane, our second son, passed away in 2004
in a car accident. We cherish his memory, and will never forget the legacy he left, and the life he shared with us.
Scott has worked many jobs from banking on Wallstreet to NFL agent work... He recently took some time to go back to school and get his MBA. He will graduate in June of 2012 from Stanford, and will start working for NIKE after that.He greatly enjoyed the Bay area, and will cherish the friends and connections he's made while in school.
Sasha is currently working for KGB Deals selling internet adds to businesses in the Phoenix area... Sasha lives is Wichita, and KGB Deals currently has their call center here... but they are transitioning into all field sales, and must locate in bigger markets... Sasha truly loves the "Internet Add industry," and we anticipate that he will stay in this field for quite some time. He a deal maker!
My mom Merilee is living in Wichita, in an apartment very near us. She has been a spriritual influence on my music ever since I can remember. We lost my father Lyle, her husband of almost 60 years, to cancer in the Spring of 2009. He is remembered by us all as a happy soul, and entertainment to all.
